After 25 years, 400 families of a slum area rehabilitated in Bikaner

RAJASTHAN, the administration rehabilitated over 400 families from Ganganagar(Bikaner) to the Chakgarbi area; after a long delay of 25 years of a slum, this community resides in the slum area of Ganganagar Highway Bikaner. 

Collector of Bikaner Mr. Bhagwati Prasad Kalal said the communities of Kanjar, bhat, sansi, dholi, and Nat have been residing near National Highway for 25 years. 

He said they didn't remove them forcefully from the Highway side; the district administration rehabilitated them and that the slum area which was developed close to the national highway is illegal. They were putting their lives in danger by staying close to the highway. There were also no toilets, and they were relieving in the open area. Apart from this, they were also using water and electricity illegally. 

First, they convinced the people to relocate to another location; it was challenging because the new site was a little far from the city. They disagreed because they wanted to live close to the town. In this crowd, most of them are daily wage workers or laborers searching for work in the city. We assure them by informing them of the risk to their lives.

He said the district administration tried to rehabilitate them, but they could not succeed, so we decided to do this.

First, the administration arranged the new location's essential requirements for water toilets and roads. District administration issued a statement in which they started to identify the families; next, they searched for the place, and they found Chakgarbi a good location for their rehabilitation. They did all work of land leveling, and then allotted 15/15 feet of land to them.

They installed a tube well for their drinking arrangements and constructed a road. Moreover, they arranged and set all basic requirements like public toilets, water tanks, etc.
